Gun Drill Special Pricing
Sterling Gun Drills single flute gun drills are stocked with the R-1 “Lowland” Contour and N-8 "facet" nose grind. In stock gun drills have standard “inch” drivers to USA industry standards. Metric drivers may be required for use with our Drilling System's Stationary or Rotary tool holders. Special gun drills are available on a five day “Rush” manufacture for $20.00 additional per drill. Special drills include features such as non-standard diameters, lengths, drivers, Contours, and nose grinds.
Special Diameters
There is no additional cost for special diameter drills manufactured to our standard 3 – 4 week delivery. Use current pricing from the next larger standard diameter drill. Special diameter drills can be manufactured on a “rush” delivery. Add $20.00 per drill and allow five working days for manufacture. Some in-stock standard gun drills can be modified into a desired special diameter. Add $20.00 to the standard drill price and allow 1 – 3 days.
Special Lengths
There is no additional cost for special length drills within the standard length range for that diameter when manufactured at our standard 3 – 4 week delivery. Use current pricing from the next longer standard length drill for that diameter. Special length drills can be manufactured on a “rush” delivery. Add $20.00 per drill and allow five working days for manufacture. In-stock standard drills under 3/8" diameter can be shortened to special lengths. Add $20.00 per drill to the standard drill price, and allow 1 - 3 days.
Non-standard lengths beyond the longest standard length for that diameter are priced at the next "standard increment" for that diameter range. Example, a .3281" x 42" is priced at the 48" length ($12.00 over the 36" length). Confirm availability of shanks beyond standard lengths for scheduling manufacture within standard or rush requirements. Extra length shanks that are not from stock can extend delivery by 2 - 4 weeks.

Special Drivers
Special "basic" inch or metric drivers are available at no extra charge on our standard 3 – 4 week delivery. Special drivers with unusual diameters, extra length, threads, flats, grooves or undercuts are subject to quote. We can modify or change standard drivers on in-stock drills to another size on 1 - 2 day "rush". Add $20.00 per drill to the standard drill price. Inserted Drivers: smaller drivers fitted to larger diameter drills may require an "inserted" or reduced shoulder driver. Inserted drivers must be machined to fit into the tube rather than over it. Reduced shoulder drivers fit over the tube with a rear diameter to customer requirement. Overall length on modified drills is increased by 1" to 3". The effective drill depth of new drill with an inserted or reduced shoulder driver manufactured to a "standard" overall length is reduced by 1" to 3". Inserted or reduced shoulder driver modifications to in-stock drills add $30.00 per drill to the standard drill price to 1” diameter, and $40.00 per drill from 1.001” to our maximum diameter. Allow 1 - 2 days. New drills with inserted or reduced shoulder drivers on standard or "rush" manufacture add $20.00 per drill to the drill price.
Other Special Features
Inner tube construction, stepped drills, gun reamers are to quote.
Tip coatings, TiN, TiCN, TiAlN, CrC and others are to quote.
Alteration of in-stock drill nose grind: Add re-sharpening cost and one to two days to delivery.
New drill nose grind (N-4, N-13, N-73) or semi-custom nose grinds: No additional cost on standard or "rush" delivery.
Non-standard Contour: R1A, R2, R3, R4. No additional cost on new drills with "standard" or “rush” manufacture.
Re-Sharpening
One to two day turnaround.
Pricing for standard nose grinds without major chips. Drills with large chips are subject to quote.
